Airbus Commercial is looking for a Data Science Engineer to join our Skywise team in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Data Science Engineer will bring talent working in their domain with a track record of working with technical teams and leading projects through successful enterprise-level software and/or big data initiatives.

Meet the Team:

The Skywise Team powers a purpose-built industry data platform, aimed to address Aircraft Operations Challenges. Our team combines in-flight, engineering and operational data in an analytic rich environment to provide airlines with meaningful information.

The Airbus Digital Alliance is a partnership founded in 2019 with Delta Air Lines to develop predictive maintenance programs and additional performance solutions for mixed fleet operations. Find them in the historic Ponce City Market area

Your Challenges:

Build and improve the model integration pipeline: 50%

Focus on automating data workflows and enabling efficient data integration
Strengthen DevOps practices within the delivery pipeline
Work with Data Science teams to implement and improve configuration standards and documentation
Automate pipeline and model testing as part of the integration pipeline
Monitor and optimize resource utilization throughout the pipeline across various environments
Partner with cross-functional teams to automate configuration validation, reducing manual overhead and improving overall system reliability.

Perform required engineering tasks in Data Science: 25%

Write code to transform real-world data into high-signal models
Load disparate datasets and conduct pre-processing transformation services
Extract insights from airline and aviation data that will revolutionize our business strategy and communicate insights that resonate with partners
Engage in ongoing efforts to reduce computation costs and identify opportunities for smart scaling
Ensure proper performance of production systems

Serve team as a key member of our engineering discipline: 15%

Help guide other developers and mentor team members
Research and investigate the next greatest tools and technologies to keep our solutions safe and scalable for the future
Help develop best practices and processes and ensure team members adhere to standards
Ensure team’s deliverables are timely and top-quality

Participate in technical discussions, documentation needs, research, and innovation and sustainability topics: 10%

Define and maintain configuration management practices (naming conventions, metadata standards, version control) to streamline model onboarding and reduce integration errors.
Enable traceability by establishing documentation practices that track model lineage, dependencies, and data source usage.

Your Boarding Pass:

BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field ( Preferred)
0-3 years of related experience
Intermediate coding skills.
Knowledge of Python programming language, Regex and SQL syntax is required
Experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, Javascript. Experience with Palantir Foundry tools. (preferred)

reports and engineering drawings.

Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the

production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

Equipment Operation: Daily use of personal computer, telephone, copier, and related office equipment and using electronic

identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.

Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Lifting: Daily able to lift documents, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Pushing / Pulling: Daily able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer

Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

Travel: Occasionally able to travel independently and at short notice.

Walking: Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing

Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
