Job Description:

Langmuir Systems is expanding our product development team and we are looking to add a professional to assist in the in-house development of embedded systems for future product lines. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in conceptualizing, developing, and engineering embedded systems, with a proven track record of steering projects from inception through research and development to successful market launch, encompassing ownership of the entire embedded stack.

Education: BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related experience.

Responsibilities:

1.) Embedded Firmware Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in writing and debugging firmware for microcontrollers, particularly those used in USB-controlled devices. Familiarity with AVR and ARM microcontroller architectures is required.

2.) C/C++ Expertise: Proficiency in C/C++ for both embedded firmware development and light maintenance of existing Microsoft Visual C++ based computer applications. This includes understanding of C/C++ standards relevant to embedded systems, real-time operating constraints, and object-oriented programming principles.

3.) PCB Design and Electronics: Hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, and testing, and troubleshooting embedded PCBs for control systems. Knowledge of CAD tools for PCB design (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCAD) and experience with circuit simulation and analysis tools. Ability to effectively create work instructions for remote contractors (Electronics Engineer) for advanced projects as needed.

4.) Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work closely with the remote software development contractor team, particularly those working on Java-based control applications, to define and understand system requirements, APIs, and integration points. Effective communication skills to bridge the gap between hardware and software development for existing and new product lines.

5.) System Integration and Debugging: Proficiency in integrating hardware and software components, conducting system-level testing, and employing debugging tools and techniques to troubleshoot issues across the entire embedded system stack.

6.) Version Control and Documentation: Experience with version control systems (GitHUB) for managing codebases and collaborative development. Ability to maintain comprehensive documentation for firmware and hardware designs, including specifications, design choices, and user guides.

Skills

Ability to work in a self-directed capacity in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
Hands-on experience with the tools and hardware needed to develop embedded systems from concept to production.
Strong problem solving skills
Three or more years of product engineering experience.
Experience in electromechanical hardware development.
Demonstrated success delivering products from concept to production.
Experience with CNC manufacturing and control systems is a plus.
Organized individual with a high attention to detail
Fluency in English
