The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs many varied functions for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. OIG has six divisions: Division of Regulated Child Care, Division of Health Care, Division of Certificate of Need, Division of Health Information, Division of Telehealth Services and Division of Audits and Investigations. These Divisions cover a wide variety of job tasks and duties throughout Kentucky focused on improving the lives and health of Kentuckians.

The Drug Enforcement and Professional Practices Branch (DEPPB) is responsible for enforcing the Kentucky Controlled Substances Act (KRS Chapter 218A) and the Kentucky Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (KRS Chapter 217) as well as administering the Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting (KASPER) program.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinates and acts as a liaison for the Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting System (KASPER).
Serves as contact person for technical issues related to the KASPER manual queue.
Analyzes data from the KASPER system.
Assists management with planning and analyzing data for regulatory agencies and law enforcement agencies.
Assists management with planning and analyzing new projects with the emphasis on KASPER manuals.
Provides technical assistance to dispensers regarding electronic reporting of drug prescribing data.
Coordinates the work of other resource staff operating the manual queue to ensure coverage.
Works with programmatic and technical staff to work out KASPER system issues.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in information technology (IT) or related field OR certification in an IT-related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in IT data analysis.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Two years of additional related experience in IT data analysis will substitute for the education requirement.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting. May require minimal travel.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
