IDEA Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. serves approximately 350 students in Grades 9-12. Our unique program prepares students for both college and careers. In addition to offering college preparatory courses, including Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment options, we also provide students with a variety of options for career technical education. All students at IDEA complete a career program of study. We currently offer the following career programs: business management; carpentry; child care and development; computer science; and cosmetology (beginning in SY25-26). IDEA is located in the historic Deanwood neighborhood in Northeast Washington, D.C. The Data Manager and Analyst is responsible for managing IDEA Public Charter School’s student information systems, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, and providing actionable data insights that drive strategic decision-making and improve student outcomes. This role is critical in supporting the academic and operational success of the school by developing efficient data systems, maintaining data integrity, and equipping school leaders and staff with the tools and information necessary for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities1. Student Information System (SIS) Management & Compliance
- Manage the setup, maintenance, and rollover of the Student Information System (PowerSchool), including calendars, schedules, grading configurations, and enrollment data.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry and auditing of student records, including demographics, attendance, discipline, and grades.
- Support the closeout and digital archiving of annual student data, including transcripts and report cards.
- Lead SIS configuration and integration with other platforms.
- Develop and maintain SIS object reports and letter templates; manage report card setup and grade storage verification.
2. Compliance Reporting and Audit Support
- Coordinate the collection, validation, and submission of required compliance reports to OSSE and other government agencies (e.g., CRDC, SEA data cycles, School Health Profiles, Immunization Validation).
- Conduct data reviews and integrity checks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates.
- Prepare and validate data for charter and state accountability metrics such as enrollment, attendance, graduation, and discipline rates.
- Ensure timely and accurate certification of all required submissions by managing reporting calendars and communication protocols with relevant staff.
- Monitor and audit data entries to detect and correct discrepancies before submission deadlines.
- Maintain clear documentation and records for all compliance submissions and validation cycles.
- Liaise with external agencies to clarify reporting requirements, submit corrections, and complete validation cycles efficiently.
3. Data Monitoring, Reporting, and Analysis
- Develop and maintain data dashboards, weekly and monthly reports, and longitudinal tracking systems across key performance indicators (e.g., attendance, grades, discipline, enrollment).
- Create a comprehensive data calendar in collaboration with school leadership to align reporting with key school events and decisions.
- Produce timely and actionable reports for leadership and the board, including reports related to state assessment and charter accountability frameworks.
- Provide weekly and monthly trend reports disaggregated by subgroups.
- Assist with internal and external data requests, audits, and accountability reviews.
4. Strategic Data Use and Capacity Building
- Facilitate data meetings and provide summaries, insights, and action plans based on data findings.
- Partner with school leaders and staff to interpret data, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-informed action plans.
- Train staff on SIS functionality, data collection practices, and data interpretation.
- Support the development and communication of school performance metrics and strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, education, public policy, computer science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in school-based or educational data management and analysis.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Google Data Studio), and SIS platforms (e.g., PowerSchool).
- Strong understanding of compliance reporting (OSSE, PCSB) and charter school accountability frameworks.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with DC-specific educational reporting requirements and systems.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
