Overview:
The Senior Data Engineer will play a critical role in designing, building, and managing the organization's data infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments. This individual will be responsible for developing scalable, reusable data products, supporting data warehousing, real-time data ingestion, data exploration, governance, and analytics.
This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, RDS PostgreSQL, and cloud-native data engineering solutions. The Sr. Data Engineer will collaborate closely with Data Architects, Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to transform raw data into actionable insights, ensuring high availability, integrity, and performance across the data ecosystem.

Schedule (days/hours): Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend support may be required based on business needs. Responsibilities:
Data Engineering & Architecture

Design, develop, and optimize scalable, reusable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing using tools such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, and stream-processing tools.

Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data across OLTP, OLAP, and data lake architectures in cloud and hybrid environments.

Develop and maintain data models for OLAP and OLTP databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and high performance.
Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence

Assemble large, complex datasets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

Implement enterprise-wide data governance and define data quality standards to ensure high data integrity.

Design business intelligence solutions, enabling reporting, dashboarding, and data analytics using Power BI.
Performance Optimization & Security

Conduct root cause analysis on data inconsistencies and recommend improvements.

Optimize data storage, query performance, and cost efficiency in Azure Synapse, Redshift, Athena, and Microsoft Fabric.

Implement security best practices for data privacy, encryption, access control, and compliance.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with Data Architects to shape the organization’s data strategy.

Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to support machine learning and AI initiatives.

Advocate for data best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, and data architecture.

Expertise in SQL, with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft Fabric.

Experience building data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory, Pentaho, AWS Glue, and stream-processing tools.

Strong understanding of OLAP vs. OLTP modeling, data warehousing concepts, and real-time data ingestion strategies.

Hands-on experience with Azure (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Data Lake) and AWS (RDS PostgreSQL, Redshift, S3, Athena, Kinesis).

Knowledge of data governance principles, security best practices, and compliance requirements.

Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, and Quicksight.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate raw data into business insights.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python, Spark, or Java for data transformation.

Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and version control (Git).

Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka.

Understanding of AI/ML data pipelines using SageMaker or Azure Machine Learning
Compensation: $130,000 - $140,000 per year About:
