Humanoid Robotics
Salary: Up to $250k + equity
A stealth robotics startup is building robust, multi-purpose humanoid robots designed to operate in complex, real-world environments. The leadership team brings decades of experience across robotics, bionics, and advanced hardware development - from outer space to deep-sea exploration, and even large-scale entertainment systems.
Their mission? To deliver elegant, dependable robotic platforms at industrial scale - with a strong emphasis on functional design and usability.
They’re now hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to help define and implement their ML strategy, joining early enough to directly shape the direction of both the product and the team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
· Collaborate on the design and implementation of the company’s core ML software stack, supporting robot locomotion, manipulation, perception, and decision-making.
· Help define and drive a roadmap for learning-based autonomy - leveraging the latest research and adapting it for real-world deployment.
· Build robust pipelines for data collection, model training, and real-time inference across various robotic tasks.
· Evaluate deployed models in live systems - tuning performance, identifying gaps, and iterating quickly.
· Work closely with researchers, academia, and industry collaborators.
· Play a key role in helping build and scale the internal ML/AI team.
What They’re Looking For:
· A bold, pragmatic thinker with the resilience to take on the hardest problems in embodied intelligence.
· 3+ years of experience applying machine learning to robotic systems.
· Proficiency with modern deep learning tools - such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
· Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure for model training and deployment.
· Familiarity with robot learning approaches, such as behavior cloning for manipulation, RL for locomotion, or predictive world models.
· A track record of deploying ML models that perform reliably in the real world.
· Strong software engineering skills and comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
· Systems-level thinking and a passion for working close to hardware.
Bonus Points For:
· Graduate-level education (MSc or PhD) in ML, Robotics, or related field.
· Publications at major conferences (ICRA, NeurIPS, RSS, CoRL, ICML, etc.).
· Experience building robotic data collection pipelines, training large models, and deploying them in production.
Why Join?
· Shape core technology at a company redefining how robots interact with the physical world.
· Collaborate with a seasoned and mission-driven founding team.
· Access to world-class prototyping tools, fast iteration cycles, and a high-trust environment.
· Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits.
