Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
Job Summary
Native Client Platform is the family of technologies Disney uses to build cross-platform client applications that run on a variety of devices. Native Client Platform Foundation is the team within Disney Product and Data Engineering that builds the core runtime for those applications. It’s essentially its own operating system built to run on other operating systems.
The NCPF Runtime team works primarily with a combination of C/C++ and Rust. We provide everything needed to build a client application, such as memory management, network access, UI frameworks and performance and debugging tools, all of which can run on many different devices. If you’ve ever been interested in building your own operating system, this is your chance.
Responsibilities And Duties Of The Role
- Build and improve our cross-platform application runtime.
- Collaborate with other engineers on new or updated designs to improve performance, stability and developer experience for your own team as well as partner teams.
- Provide support and advice to partner teams that are built on our runtime.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with C/C++, Rust, or other lower-level programming languages, and a grasp of computer science fundamentals.
- Experience using source control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to share your knowledge with team members and others at Disney.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with or studying operating system internals, such as memory and file management, graphics and networking.
- Experience with or studying application development on console devices, such as Xbox, PlayStation, etc.
- An ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding and supporting cross-team projects.
- Collaborate efficiently with product management, technical program management and other engineering teams to understand requirements, drive implementation, and provide transparency.
- A broad perspective on problem-solving.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $99,900.00 to $133,900.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
