About the Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer, Developer Experience who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence and customer advocacy. This role combines deep engineering expertise with exceptional people skills to ensure our customers succeed with HIFI's infrastructure while driving continuous product improvement through customer insights. You'll be the technical bridge between our customers and our product, translating complex business requirements into actionable engineering solutions while building systems that scale our support operations. This is a unique opportunity to shape how a fast-growing fintech infrastructure company delivers world-class customer experiences. This role is based in-person in New York.
Responsibilities
Technical Customer Success
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for enterprise customers during onboarding, integration, and ongoing support.
- Debug complex integration issues across our APIs, troubleshoot production problems, and provide technical guidance to customer engineering teams.
- Build and maintain technical documentation, integration guides, and best practices that help customers succeed faster.
- Conduct technical workshops and training sessions for customer teams on HIFI's infrastructure and capabilities.
Product & Engineering Interface
- Translate customer business needs and technical requirements into clear product specifications and engineering requirements.
- Work closely with our product and engineering teams to prioritize feature development based on customer feedback and market needs.
- Champion customer perspectives in product decisions, ensuring we build solutions that truly solve real-world problems.
- Analyze usage patterns and customer data to identify opportunities for product improvements and new features.
Systems & Automation
- Design and build internal tools and systems to organize, automate, and scale our customer success operations.
- Create monitoring dashboards and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve customer issues.
- Develop automation workflows that streamline repetitive support tasks and improve response times.
- Build customer health scoring systems and analytics to identify at-risk accounts and expansion opportunities.
Customer Advocacy & Growth
- Partner with enterprise customers to understand their long-term technical roadmaps and identify opportunities for deeper integration.
- Gather and synthesize customer feedback to inform our product strategy and technical direction.
- Support customer references, case studies, and technical content that showcase successful implementations.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support pre-sales technical discussions and proof-of-concept projects.
Qualifications
Technical Excellence
- Experience building production software systems, preferably in fintech, payments, or infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in modern languages (Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar).
- Experience with APIs, microservices, databases, cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS), and CRM tools (e.g. Zendesk).
- Understanding of financial systems, payment processing, or blockchain/cryptocurrency technologies is a plus.
Customer-First Mindset
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles, technical support, solutions engineering, or similar positions.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, understand their business challenges, and advocate for their success.
- Experience working with enterprise customers and understanding their unique needs and constraints.
Product & Business Acumen
- Track record of translating customer requirements into product features and technical specifications.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Understanding of business metrics, customer success metrics, and how technical decisions impact business outcomes.
Systems Thinking
- Experience building tools, automation, and systems to scale operations and improve efficiency.
- Ability to identify patterns in customer issues and build systematic solutions rather than one-off fixes.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward building solutions that scale.
