Data Scientist
Full-time, Permanent
Location: Monroe, LA
We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.
You’ll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We’re enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonize the planet for generations to come.
So, what will you be doing?
As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in Drax’s transition to providing carbon-negative low-cost electricity by conducting descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics to solve complex business problems. This will mean exploring and extracting maximum value out of Drax data and wider internal and external systems – spanning customer and financial management, supply chain, industrial IOT, and environmental data.
You will contribute to the knowledge base of Drax Data and Data Science, our Databricks-based Drax Data Library, and other relevant knowledge bases while ensuring compliance with the latest data security, privacy (GDPR) and other data governance rules.
About You:
We’re looking for individuals with a solid analytical background as well as significant commercial experience with data science and machine learning techniques. Ideally you will be a degree holder with a quantitative analysis background and a minimum of 2 years non-academic production data science experience, including successful end-to-end development and deployment of data science models. Experience working with big data streaming in near-real time, or other IOT related work, is an asset.
Specifically, you will have experience with Python and the associated data science ecosystem/productionalization frameworks (Anaconda, scikit, Pandas, REST APIs…). You will also be comfortable extracting data from large SQL databases, and have experience working within the major cloud environments; ideally AWS and/or Azure, along with other relevant products like Databricks, Spark etc.
You will be comfortable working in a distributed team in a remote environment, are local to the Southern US, and are available for up to 20% travel to Drax locations in North America on an as-needed basis.
