About The Team
We are the Fashion Vertical Engineering team within eBay’s Global Focused Category Organization. Our work spans key surfaces of eBay—including the Homepage, Events, My eBay, Vertical Experiences, Growth Products, and other high-impact buyer engagement experiences. In addition, we drive zero-to-one initiatives that shape the future of personalized Fashion discovery, leveraging the latest AI technologies to transform the upper funnel shopping journey.
About The Role
We are seeking a strong Backend Engineer to join the Fashion Vertical Engineering team, driving innovative AI-powered initiatives. In this role, you will design and own pipelines that integrate models developed by our scientists to deliver personalized shopping experiences for fashion enthusiasts. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic member of our team, you will work with extremely hardworking peers in a fun environment. You will work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering perfection.
Job Responsibilities
- Define, build, and implement highly scalable, resilient and performant distributed systems
- Work throughout all phases of the software development process independently as well as work jointly with other team members
- Collaborate with architects, product management, engineering, QE and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions adherence to development goals and principles
- Produce clear, well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews
- Strictly follow Definition of Done (DoD) process for better quality by maintaining over 80% unit test coverage and other release criteria standards
- Responsible for leading engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24x7 site
Job Requirements
- 6+ years software development experience with strong proficiencies in data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/D
- 4+ proven experience in software development using Java, RESTful, GraphQL Web Services.
- Strong experience in developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS, NoSQL, and ElasticSearch
- Extensive expertise in crafting and developing highly scalable and available back-end systems and services for large web sites
- Experience with ML/AI pipeline and recommendation system is a major plus but not required
- Completion and be successful in a collaborative environment
- Experience with agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD
- Ability to think innovative and contribute to the success of the products, processes and customer experience
- Excellent decision-making, communication and collaboration skills
- MS degree or equivalent experience plus 4 years of professional background or bachelor’s degree with 6 years of practical experience in Computer Science or a related technical field
The applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location. The base pay range in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro and Seattle Metro is expected in the range below:
$142,400 - $190,100
The base pay range for all other U.S. work locations is expected in the range below:
$95,200 - $168,700
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
