Location: Onsite in Washington, DC (with possible remote support upon approval)
SUMMARY We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to assist in designing, developing, and maintaining data systems that support the Board's mission. This entry-level role is ideal for a candidate with strong SQL and data processing skills who is eager to learn and grow in cloud data engineering, integration, and compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with database schema design and data modeling.
- Develop stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
- Build ETL processes and data pipelines; implement CI/CD for deployments.
- Create and optimize APIs and data access layers.
- Support performance monitoring, query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
- Assist with database migrations, upgrades, data quality validation, and retention procedures.
- Support metadata documentation and database testing.
- Implement database security controls, support FISMA compliance, and data masking.
- Work with RedShift, SQL Server, PostgreSQL on RDS/EC2.
- Collaborate with developers on best practices and participate in reviews.
REQUIREMENTS Experience:
- 1 3 years with SQL development and database fundamentals.
Skills
- PostgreSQL and SQL Server, stored procedures, indexing, query optimization, ETL (Python, SQL, Glue, Step Functions, Lambda).
Knowledge:
- Database design principles, data modeling, integration patterns, data validation.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Clearance:
- Personnel must be able to maintain the required level of clearance (Moderate Risk) while supporting the Board on this effort.
