IGS is currently recruiting for a remote Integration/Data Engineer to support our work to help optimize Veteran VA customer experience through data, analytics, advanced analytics, and AI tools and techniques in direct support of the Veterans Experience Office (VEO).
Assignment of Work and Travel:
This is a remote access assignment however, customer prefers the candidate be located in the Washington, DC area, or hybrid. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.
The data, analytics, and AI teams operate together to deliver data engineering, analytics, and AI solutions. The team is comprised of cross-functional resources who work together in an agile development process with two week-long sprint cycles. Team members are expected to be proactive, collaborative, and mission-focused in the development of enterprise solutions for users across the VA.
Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Build data engineering pipelines to support data ingestion, data conditioning/cleansing, and data integration/aggregation to enable use case and data product development.
- Configure data analytics processes to integrate data from various VA systems into Customer Experience Insights (CXI) data warehouse.
- Implement systems integration use cases to enable seamless data exchange among various VA systems.
- Engage with data scientists, data analysts, and data stewards to understand the functional and technical data integration and management requirements; develop technical specifications to illustrate/capture the requirements.
- Develop automated scripts for data extraction, conditioning, and integration of large data sets into actionable insights for informed client decision-making – and maintain developed models.
- Support ad-hoc data analytics requests by quickly understanding requirements and mapping those requirements to data attributes; deliver ad-hoc data reports based on client reporting specifications.
- Support data analytic product capabilities by studying information needs specific to the client; conferring with users; and following a hybrid agile software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science or a related field at a minimum
- 1+ years of experience in Python/Spark programming for implementing data operations such as connectivity, data manipulation, data integration and publication.
- 1+ years of experience in SQL or related query languages.
- 1+ years of experience developing ETL pipelines and troubleshooting data load issues.
- 1+ years of experience in Databricks for data engineering, systems integration, or machine learning projects.
- 1+ years’ experience in data warehousing projects and understanding of implementation of dimensional modelling concepts such as fact and dimension tables.
- 1+ years of experience working with GitHub for code management and deployment.
- 1+ years of experience working with Agile development frameworks.
- 1+ years of prior experience with data analytics with at least 2+ years of experience working in an IT environment.
- 1+ years of prior consulting experience.
- 1+ years of prior work experience in or with the Federal government.
- Ability to quickly adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support business writing, reporting, team and client collaboration, and professional correspondence.
- Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
- Must be a US Citizen with ability and willingness to acquire a U.S. Public Trust
Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- Active VA Public Trust
- 3+ years of prior experience working in data and analytics environments.
- 3+ years of experience with data engineering and ETL development.
- 2+ years of experience in Azure cloud services (e.g., Synapse, Containers, ADF, Azure DevOps).
- 1+ years of experience developing data analytics products e.g., Power BI.
- 1+ years of prior experience in healthcare environments/clients.
- Experience with systems integrations e.g., API integrations.
- Experience with VA systems e.g., CX Insights, Lighthouse APIs, Medallia.
- Experience in/familiar with Jira.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Prior experience supporting a VA program
- Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
