Summary:

The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-precision components used in complex electronic systems. This role plays a key part in maintaining tight tolerances and efficient workflow in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, supporting quality and engineering teams in the development and delivery of rugged embedded solutions.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

Set up, program, and operate CNC machinery to fabricate various types of parts.
Assist in managing inventory in coordination with the area lead, stockroom, and purchasing teams.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment and common troubleshooting when a malfunction occurs
Track and maintain raw material, fixture, and tooling log
Assist in the design and implementation of fixturing equipment for both engineering and production purposes
Assist area lead for sourcing and maintaining tooling/equipment needed
Interface with Engineering, Production, and Quality to control and meet tolerances needed.
Review first article inspection results and adjust programs or setups as needed to meet quality standards.
Create and modify G-code programs using CAM software (e.g., Gibbscam or Fusion 360) as needed.
Implementation of 6S practice and techniques in machine shop

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Graduate
1-3+ plus years related experience or equivalent experience
Experience with manual mills and CNC mills
Basic knowledge of Fanuc control operation
Ability to edit G/M code at the machine
Basic CAM programming experience/knowledge (Mastercam, Gibbscam & Fusion 360)
Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

General knowledge of G/M code and basic toolpath generation
Ability to conceptualize or create and build work-holding fixtures/assemblies for use in a manufacturing environment
Experience/knowledge in complex setups for oddly shaped parts or reworking parts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, and possess a high degree of curiosity and desire to learn new things
Ability to take initiative and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
