My client, a leading global hedge fund, is seeking an experienced a Software Developer to join their high-performing Research Technology team in New York.
This team is the engine behind their macroeconomic modelling efforts, partnering closely with internal economists and strategists to turn complex research models into powerful, scalable technology that informs investment decision-making. The successful candidate will help transform bespoke research into production-ready tools, enabling faster idea generation and hypothesis testing across a wide range of economic indicators.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Converting research models into robust, scalable applications using Python and MATLAB.
- Maintaining and improving a proprietary research modelling platform, focusing on performance and user experience.
- Sourcing and managing large-scale economic datasets in a scalable and reliable fashion.
- Owning development projects end-to-end: from requirements gathering and solution design to testing, deployment, and support.
- Collaborating with economists, strategists, and technologists to align technical solutions with research needs.
- Exploring new ways to visualise and distribute model output for faster hypothesis validation and insight generation.
A Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Strong Python skills with hands-on experience using data analysis libraries such as NumPy and Pandas.
- Proficiency in MATLAB is essential; exposure to other statistical languages
- A passion for programming and a drive to apply technology to solve real-world business problems.
- Experience working within front-office environments at banks, asset managers, or hedge funds is preferred.
- Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, ideally gained in a fast-paced, agile setting.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across diverse teams.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and excellent communication.
