Data Scientist
Full-Time | San Francisco, | $130K – $300K per year
About the Company
A San Francisco–based AI startup is building large-scale models that predict on-the-job performance more accurately than traditional interviews. Already powering hiring at top AI labs, the company scaled from $1M to $100M ARR in just 11 months, making it one of the fastest-growing startups on record.
Role Overview
As a Data Scientist, you’ll take ownership of analyses and experiments that directly impact key product metrics, including match quality, time-to-hire, candidate experience, and revenue. This role blends statistical rigor, fast-paced experimentation, and applied modeling to drive measurable results in product performance.
What You’ll Do
- Define north-star and feature-level metrics for ranking, interview analytics, and payouts systems.
- Design and run A/B tests and quasi-experiments, translating insights into product decisions within the same week.
- Build dashboards and lightweight data models to enable team-wide self-service analytics.
- Collaborate with engineers to instrument events and improve data quality, latency, and observability.
- Prototype machine learning models (from baselines to gradient boosting) to improve matching and scoring.
- Evaluate LLM-powered agents, including rubrics, human-in-the-loop studies, and guardrail canaries.
You’ll Thrive Here If You…
- Have strong fundamentals in statistics, SQL, and Python.
- Enjoy rapid iteration—framing questions, testing, and shipping in days.
- Value clarity of communication as much as statistical rigor.
- Are curious about LLM evaluation, retrieval, and ranking.
- Want to learn alongside peers with experience at Jane Street, Citadel, Databricks, and Stripe.
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong skills in SQL and Python, with knowledge of experiment design and causal inference.
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to engineers, product managers, and leadership.
- Nice-to-haves: dbt, dashboarding tools (Hex, Mode, Looker), marketplace or search/recommendation metrics, LLM/agent evaluation.
