We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Data Engineer to lead complex, cross-functional data initiatives that support go-to-market strategy development on our Outsourced team at Microsoft. This role combines deep technical expertise with project management and data discovery capabilities to deliver secure, scalable infrastructure and actionable datasets that enable strategic insights across finance, sales, engagement tracking, customer usage, and opportunity sizing.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, extract, and create data model/views from systems such as MS Sales, IDEAS telemetry, and Commerce data.
- Lead data discovery efforts to identify, evaluate, and integrate new data sources that enhance go-to-market insights.
- Design and implement secure infrastructure for handling PII and customer-specific usage data, including building environments from scratch if needed.
- Integrate with enterprise systems like MSSales, manage network access, and oversee ongoing maintenance including Azure infrastructure & cross-charge considerations.
- Deliver data in digestible formats such as Excel views; Power BI experience is a plus but not required.
- Collaborate with analysts and strategy teams to enable insights that inform go-to-market planning.
- Lead and manage AI-related data initiatives, supporting AI strategy through structured data delivery.
- Manage research projects and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with business goals and timely delivery.
- Own the end-to-end project management of data engineering efforts, including scoping, planning, execution, stakeholder communication, and delivery.
- Define and communicate clear project boundaries, timelines, and expectations across teams.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or enterprise data integration roles.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud platforms (preferably Azure).
- Experience with enterprise data systems such as MS Sales, Commerce, and telemetry platforms.
- Proven ability to build secure data environments and manage sensitive data.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including cross-team coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in data discovery and integration of new data sources.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with go-to-market frameworks and business strategy.
- Experience supporting AI strategy or working with AI/ML teams.
- Experience managing external vendors or research partnerships.
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance best practices.
