Job Summary

Data Analyst (Not a Super Technical Role)

Location: Richmond, VA / McLean, VA (Hybrid, local candidates only)

Duration: 12 months (contract, likely to extend up to 36 months)

Industry: Financial Services - strong financial experience required

Interview: 1 round panel

Key Responsibilities

Lead meetings with internal customers to determine and understand data needs.
Gather, map, and document requirements to support engineering partners.
Conduct metadata registration and data governance activities.
Configure and test data quality rules.
Coordinate and validate ETL pipelines testing across multiple business areas.

Must-Have Skills

Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Experience with Databricks.
Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical (data engineers) and non-technical (legacy Discover team) stakeholders.
Prior metadata management and data governance experience.
Strong organizational skills and self-driven project management.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience at financial services environment.
Demonstrated experience working on large-scale financial data projects.
Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical specifications.

Role Highlights

Not a super technical role; primary focus is on communication, requirements gathering, and data governance.
Work with a cross-functional team (product, data, engineering).
Responsible for discovery and analysis to identify customer data needs and trace requirements back to sources.
Must manage and organize data operations during significant data migrations (e.g., onboarding 500+ files from DFS).
