Principle Software Engineer - Experience

THE OPPORTUNITY
You’ll join an expanding and accelerating team of Software Engineers in our Experience Practice that focus and specialize in front-end technologies but also contribute to data and backend solutions as a part of a cross functional team. Our developers work with React, Typescript, React Native, Kotlin, PHP,, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, REST APIs, and AWS services like EC2, SQS, S3, Lambda, among others. The engineering team has a tight partnership with our product team and executives and they see the impact of their work on Kipsu’s business every day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support world-class software across a range of tech stacks in a SaaS environment
- Set and maintain a high standard of excellence for your own and your team’s code quality
- Set and maintain high standards of excellence in unit test coverage, integration test coverage, and integration of test runs into CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute as the principal author for technical designs. Demonstrates deep understanding of all aspects of technical solutions. Advances the state of technical designs at Kipsu.
- Serve as the final approver for technical and product documentation
- Advocates for design pattern usage within the organization. Integrates best practice design patterns into all work
- Responsible for managing PRs, using them to teach, providing timely and effective reviews, and ensuring delivery standards are consistently applied
- Advances and advocates for best practices in source code management within repositories, branching, merging, change control, merge conflicts
- Uses peer reviews, pair programming, workshops, etc. to advance the engineering team as a whole
- Make improvements to modules/libraries/services and go out of your way to help others learn from it
- Proactively document and share knowledge to enable others to learn, improve, and achieve
- Proactive in organizing internal/external/customer facing calls and meetings. Helps others prepare for and participate in such meetings. Comfortable as the face of the organization in these meetings
- Help us maintain 24/7 SLAs by occasionally (2-3 weeks/yr) being on call for after hours support
- Resolve bugs and production issues while minimizing downtime to customers
- Join our Experience practice - a team of engineers dedicated to designing, building, and supporting world-class front-ends, user experiences, and user interfaces across all screens and devices
- Consistently and effectively works across all of Kipsu to achieve goals. Works with multiple teams on big strategic goals and is seen as a key team member in getting goals accomplished.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
- Ability to step in and make an immediate impact
- Passion for designing, building, delivering, and supporting world-class software
- Proven expertise in front-end and React environments, encompassing TypeScript, Tailwind, asynchronous state management (e.g., TanStack Query), and schema validation (e.g., Zod).
- Experience or desire to work in cross-platform mobile tech stacks (React Native) and design, build, test, and support software for mobile apps
- Ability to facilitate monorepo to support code sharing between web and mobile
- Expertise in managing frontend infrastructure via Terraform, AWS, and GitHub Actions
- Strong foundation in accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG, WAI-AIRA)
- Ability to participate within scaled day to day Agile environment
- A desire not just to work within the existing status quo, but rather a true drive to be a "builder" and shape a modern stack that is critical to our business
