Position Title: Data Scientist
Location: Local to Washington DC with 1-2 days a week onsite.
Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active DHS Public Trust, preferably TSA.
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with hands-on experience in Elastic software (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, Elastic Stack ecosystem) to join our analytics team. The ideal candidate will combine advanced data science expertise with practical knowledge of Elastic tools to design, develop, and deploy scalable data-driven solutions. This role will play a critical part in helping us optimize search, monitoring, and analytics capabilities while driving actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modeling & Analytics
- Develop predictive and prescriptive models using statistical, machine learning, and deep learning methods.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns and insights from large, complex datasets.
- Elastic Stack Development
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Beats.
- Build advanced queries, aggregations, and dashboards in Kibana for business and technical stakeholders.
- Optimize Elasticsearch clusters for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Business Intelligence & Visualization
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Create real-time dashboards and monitoring solutions using Kibana and integrated visualization tools.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with engineers, analysts, and business leaders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Contribute to data governance, documentation, and best practices for analytics and Elastic platform use.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or Data Engineer with proven Elastic software expertise
- Proficiency in Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats).
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Java (with experience using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with LLMs, GPTs, prompting, and other language model technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative mindset and comfort working in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant Certifications such as Elastic Certified Analyst, Microsoft AWS Certified Machine Learning, or similar
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Power Platform experience including Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Apps
- UiPath experience.
- Tableau visualization and data analytics experience
- Prior experience supporting mission-critical federal environments.
