Role Overview:
We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to join our NYC-based engineering team and help rebuild and modernize the RealSelf platform. You will work across the stack—designing and building backend services, crafting intuitive frontend experiences, and ensuring our systems are reliable, scalable, and secure.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend infrastructure engineers. You’ll directly shape how millions of users engage with RealSelf while contributing to the foundation of our next-generation technology platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end features across backend and frontend systems
- Build scalable APIs and backend services in Node.js + TypeScript with SQL
- Develop polished frontend experiences with Next.js, React, and SCSS Processors
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code, and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless features
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across the stack
- Contribute to engineering culture by championing standards, documentation, and best practices
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with software development in a modern programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or Go)
- 3+ years of experience with full stack development (backend and frontend)
- 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching production software
- 1+ years of experience with software design and architecture
- Hands-on experience with AI developer tooling (e.g., Cursor, Claude CLI, or similar) to accelerate development workflows and improve productivity. (edited)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively in a hybrid team environment
Bonus Qualities:
- Experience with ORM or similar tooling
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience developing accessible and inclusive technologies
- Prior work on consumer platforms, marketplaces, or healthcare-related software
