Western National is seeking a Data Analyst I to join our team!
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to translate our business requests into results through data gathering and analysis. The individual in this role will partner with internal customers to clarify requirements and provide deliverables to meet their needs.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?

Uses data to help solve business problems and answer questions about business performance and meets management and compliance analytical and reporting needs.

Develops an understanding of data available within the Data Warehouse and learns the data structure within the various source systems.

Collaborates with the Data Engineering Team by testing and validating data elements via defined test plans.

Updates and / or modifies existing published Insight content.

Pulls data from cleansed data sources and primary source system tables.

Recognizes data quality and business application.

Assists team members with projects.

Modifies and improves established reports.

Creates new reports, both ad hoc and recurring.

Utilizes generative AI and other new technologies to improve productivity.

Identifies new insights and process improvements.

Builds an understanding of one to three insurance lines.

Consistently acts according to our customer experience standards, including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer’s expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?
-
Basic understanding of personal or commercial insurance lines.

Up to three years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and data mining.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to prioritize work to meet project deadlines.

Some knowledge of SQL.

Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tools and functions, especially with pivot tables in Excel.

Bachelor’s degree required, related degree in science, technology, mathematics, or business preferred.
What will our ideal candidate have?

Fundamental insurance knowledge, preferably in pursuit of a CPCU or a similar insurance-related course of study.

Previous experience working with data in a professional environment.
Compensation overview
The targeted hiring range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
