Front-End Developer (UI/UX) Evanston, IL
Bear Claw is a growing SaaS company transforming applicant tracking and passive candidate headhunting. We’re looking for a talented Front-End Developer (UI/UX) to join our engineering team and play a key role in building Bear Claw’s new user interface. This is a unique opportunity to own the user interface for a high-impact product and help shape the experience for thousands of users.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of Bear Claw’s new UI, translating designs and prototypes into responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement UX best practices, leveraging Figma for wireframes, prototypes, and usability testing.
- Build and consume authenticated APIs and integrate with back-end services (Node.js, AWS Lambda).
- Incorporate AI-driven insights and data visualization (Amazon Redshift) into the UI, creating smarter and more personalized user experiences.
- Write clean, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
- Ensure scalability, performance, and accessibility across the application.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and TDD initiatives.
- Use analytics and user feedback to continuously improve the product experience.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–7 years of front-end or full-stack development experience.
- Strong skills in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern styling frameworks (Tailwind, Material-UI, etc.).
- Experience building and consuming APIs; familiarity with Node.js and cloud tools (AWS Lambda, Redshift, S3, EC2, Docker, Git).
- Understanding of UX principles and proficiency with Figma (Sketch or Adobe XD a plus).
- Interest in leveraging AI and data visualization to enhance user experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage tasks independently and collaborate effectively.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience; a strong portfolio can substitute.
