Job Description
General Summary:
The Data Engineer I is responsible for maintaining data integrity within CEC’s enterprise data warehouse environment and leading the development of scalable data ingestion and transformation frameworks built in C#. You will play a key role in designing and maintaining the pipelines that integrate data from vendors, internal systems, and other third-party sources.
In addition, this role will contribute to the modeling and optimization of analytical data structures, including data cubes and semantic models, to enable advanced analytics and reporting in Power BI. Expertise with DAX, SQL Server, and Azure data services is essential, as the position requires bridging operational data with enterprise analytics to deliver trusted, actionable insights. This position offers some work-from-home (WFH) flexibility.
Major Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and maintains C#-based frameworks for ingesting, transforming, and validating data from diverse sources into the enterprise data warehouse.
- Ensures data quality, accuracy, and integrity across all systems and analytical platforms.
- Builds and optimizes data warehouse models, OLAP cubes, and tabular models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Develops and maintains DAX measures, calculated columns, and hierarchies to enable advanced reporting and self-service analytics in Power BI.
- Implements and maintains ETL/ELT processes leveraging SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure services.
- Collaborates with BI developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data models and solutions.
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes data pipelines and cube refresh processes for performance and reliability.
- Documents architecture, processes, and data lineage to support operational excellence, transparency, and compliance.
- Promotes automation, scalability, and continuous improvement in all aspects of data engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 0+ years of experience.
- General understanding of data warehousing and data engineering concepts.
- Knowledge of C# for building data ingestion and transformation frameworks.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Analysis Server including T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning is desired.
- Knowledge of Power BI, including dataset modeling, measure creation, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with OLAP/Tabular models, cube design, and DAX for advanced analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on data integrity and quality.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD practices preferred.
