Qualitative Data Scientist – 6 Month W2 Contract
Location: Pleasanton, CA (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)

Must-Haves
- At least 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Qualitative research experience (focus groups, interviews, unstructured data)
- Strong stakeholder partnership skills (maturity, communication, influence)
- Data storytelling – ability to synthesize insights into clear, compelling narratives
Tools
- Python or R (must have one; used for data manipulation and text mining)
- Airtable (nice to have; used to manage qualitative databases)
- SQL (nice to have)
- I/O Psychology or mixed-methods research background (nice to have)
- Not focused on dashboards or predictive modeling — mostly descriptive analytics
Job Summary
In this dynamic role, you will be an integral part of the People Analytics team, focusing on delivering insightful analytics that enhance our understanding of employee experience, culture, and leadership. Your ability to merge quantitative analysis with qualitative insights will enable you to craft compelling narratives that inform strategic decisions across various HR functions.
Collaborating closely with teams such as Employee Listening, Talent Acquisition, and Diversity & Inclusion, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our workforce and driving organizational success.
Responsibilities
- Interact with business leaders and product teams to identify business questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
- Extend quantitative findings through a mixed-method approach by conducting qualitative research (focus groups and interviews).
- Analyze and synthesize results using an appropriate mix of methods while managing existing technology to maintain a searchable database for unstructured text data.
- Conduct analytical research studies and establish predictive analytics related to recruiting, retention, growth, performance, team effectiveness, and leadership effectiveness.
- Identify meaningful insights from both qualitative and quantitative data; interpret and communicate findings to business executives and relevant teams to drive talent strategy decisions.
- Partner with product colleagues in People Analytics to align insights and strategies for implementation as new products go live.
- Create compelling enablement content so that business leaders and People Partners can readily utilize the insights provided.
Skills
- Academic background in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, or I/O Psychology (advanced degree preferred)
- Rich experience in qualitative research methods
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages (e.g., R or Python)
- Experience cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing both structured and unstructured data
- Broad knowledge of applied statistics and causal inference
- Strong business intuition, data analysis skills, and effective presentation abilities
- Creative mindset with a passion for seeking innovative solutions to problems and opportunities
