Sr. Data Analyst

About the Role

Gorilla Commerce is looking for a Sr. Data Analyst to support the Controller and broader Finance organization. This role will focus on transforming large, complex, and highly manual data into actionable insights and automated processes. While not a traditional accounting role, the ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of financial statements and business flows to contextualize data analysis. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, technically strong in data handling, and excited to help streamline reporting and decision-making across the company.

What You’ll Do

Data Management & Analysis

Own large, complex financial and operational datasets (NetSuite, marketplace reports, external files) and translate them into usable formats
Build, streamline, and automate recurring data models and reporting processes to reduce manual workload.
Develop advanced Excel and/or BI dashboards (Power BI, Toolio, etc.) for financial and operational performance tracking.

Financial & Operational Insights

Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to provide analytical support for key business questions (COGS allocation, SKU profitability, channel analysis, etc.).
Support month-end and quarter-end reporting by structuring large data extracts into reconciled reporting packages.
Assist in variance analysis across sales channels, products, and cost drivers to identify risks and opportunities

Process Improvement

Identify inefficiencies in current manual processes and propose/implement data-driven solutions.
Support automation initiatives that enable scalability of reporting and analysis.
Collaborate cross-functionally (IT, FP&A, Inventory, Accounting) to ensure data integrity and improve upstream inputs.

Ad Hoc & Strategic Support

Take a leading role in ad hoc data pulls and analysis to support executive decision-making.
Partner with leadership on presentations for private equity sponsors, board, and internal stakeholders.
Provide financial data validation for projects such as pricing analysis, new channel expansion, and strategic planning.

Skills & Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in data analytics, FP&A, or finance/accounting support (e-commerce/CPG preferred).
Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, power queries, formulas, VBA/macros a plus)
Experience with large dataset manipulation (NetSuite, Power BI, Toolio, SQL or similar systems.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills; ability to work with incomplete or messy datasets.
Basic understanding of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and business processes.
Intellectual curiosity and initiative — ability to find new ways to simplify and improve processes
Comfortable managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and working independently with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate findings clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
