Duration : Contract to hire
Role Overview
Seeking a Data Scientist to join a small, collaborative team focused on asset management analytics for utility operations (gas, electric generation, distribution, renewables, pipelines, thermal). The team uses Azure-based technologies and supports multiple projects with end-to-end ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- This role is instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization, with a strong focus on leveraging Microsoft Azure as the core data and analytics platform. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving complex business problems using data science techniques and cloud-native tools.
- Supporting analytics projects in asset management, including performance analytics, fault analytics, investment optimization, and predictive modeling.
- Collaborate closely with business SMEs, data engineers, and other team members to understand operational challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Own project delivery from data exploration to model deployment, ensuring solutions are practical and aligned with business needs.
- Remain flexible to contribute across data engineering, data science, and AI engineering tasks as needed.
- Participate in daily team check-ins, process improvement discussions, and ongoing learning about utility asset operations.
Technical Skills - 2-5 Years of Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including
- Azure Machine Learning
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks
- Azure DevOps
- Proficiency in Python similar programming languages.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data sets.
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices
- Experience with RAG-based applications, Azure Foundry, Azure Search, and Document Intelligence is a plus.
- Familiarity with asset management or utility industry data is preferred but not required.
Soft Skills
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work closely with team members and business stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new domains and adapt to evolving project needs.
