Role Overview
The Insights Analyst is a highly data-driven role responsible for turning complex datasets into actionable insights that directly impact retailer partnerships, distribution strategies, and brand growth. This role requires someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves working with numbers, and can balance both detailed analysis and big-picture storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Own weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reporting across multiple retailers (Target, Walmart, Kroger, Amazon, DTC, etc.).
- Develop dashboards and models in Power BI and Excel to track KPIs such as $ sales, unit sales, ASP, velocity, distribution, and promotional ROI.
- Create variance analyses (plan vs. actuals, budget vs. executed, baseline vs. promo) to highlight risks and opportunities.
Retail & Business Insights
- Support sell-in and sell-out forecasting by transforming large datasets into easy-to-digest insights for leadership.
- Analyze performance by brand, category, and SKU to identify growth drivers and underperformers.
- Evaluate promotional impact (discount depth, timing, competitor activity) and recommend strategies to maximize ROI.
- Partner with Marketing to track the effectiveness of digital ads, influencer campaigns, and seasonal activations.
Commercial & Strategic Support
- Assist in building retailer presentations (Target, Kroger, Walmart, etc.) by synthesizing data into compelling visuals and narratives.
- Provide insights to support planogram resets, fixture investments, and in-store display programs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Design, and Supply Chain teams to ensure aligned business decisions.
Process & Tools
- Maintain and improve master product and week alignment tables to ensure accurate reporting across all customers.
- Streamline data processes in Power Query / Power BI to enhance automation and accuracy.
- Manage ad hoc deep-dive analyses (e.g., price elasticity studies, competitor benchmarking, category reviews).
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis or commercial insights
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Power Query, and Excel (DAX experience strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of syndicated data (Circana/IRI/NielsenIQ), retailer POS systems, and Panel data.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to translate numbers into actionable stories.
- Strong communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Passion for beauty, consumer trends, and retail innovation.
