Position Overview

Elkins Earthworks, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer / Full Stack Developer who can design and create robust applications while integrating AI-powered tools and features into our products. You will work across the stack from front-end interfaces to back-end systems and use AI-assisted development tools to deliver faster, smarter and more scalable solutions. This position offers the opportunity to learn advanced techniques, gain exposure to product development and support ongoing innovation within a growing technical team.

You will play a pivotal role in defining our AI and software strategy, shaping how Elkins Earthworks leverages intelligent systems to improve environmental engineering workflows. You will have the freedom to propose and prototype new ideas, influence architecture decisions and help establish best practices for AI deployment and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain end-to-end web applications (front-end, back-end, databases, cloud).
Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve efficiency in coding, testing and documentation.
Integrate AI/ML models and APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.) into production applications.
Collaborate with product, design and data teams to ship AI-enabled features.
Ensure application performance, scalability and security.
Participate in CI/CD, testing and DevOps workflows.
Communicate efficiently with all team members and supervisors to resolve technical issues across various lines of business.
Actively participate in team meetings, technical training and process improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow technical skills through on-the-job training and continued education.
Design and implement distributed, high-availability systems capable of handling real-time data streams and large-scale analytics.
Optimize system performance through profiling, benchmarking and architectural improvements.
Contribute to developing proprietary tools for automated testing, model monitoring and anomaly detection.

Preferred Skills and Experience

3+ years of experience in full-stack development with JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or similar.
Skilled in front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and back-end frameworks (Node.js, Django, Flask, etc.)
Proficiency with data bases (SQL & NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Hands-on experience integrating AI APIs and/or ML models into real-world applications.
Familiarity with microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, Docker Kubernetes.
Experience utilizing large volumes of data and applying predictive analytic AI functionality.
Knowledge of LLMs, embeddings and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS).
Experience with MLOps pipelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Four-year degree in the field of computer related studies, with emphasis on AI.
2 or more years of experience utilizing AI to advance business solutions.
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency ("Green Card" holder) required.
