Position Summary:
Assistant Professor Yingcong Li from the Department of Data Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a part-time research associate position. This employee would conduct research on foundational models, with a focus on time series data. The ideal candidate will have a background in data science or a related field and strong Python programming skills. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to read research papers and reproduce the described ideas. The initial appointment is for the academic year and can be extended, subject to funding availability.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct research on foundation models, including analyzing and processing different time series data, and pretraining and finetuning different foundation models.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or a related field.
- Strong Python programming background.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or higher degree in Data Science or a related field.
- Experience with research in foundation models and publishing peer-reviewed papers.
Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $20.00-$30.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
