Data Engineer @ Tilt
Tilt (check us out here) is looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and help us scale our business by building and optimizing the data systems that power analytics, automation, and intelligent decision-making across our product. This position is a full-time role reporting to our Engineering Manager. We want you to be successful here at Tilt! Below is a description of your role and responsibilities, including the things you will be held accountable for and the virtues, behaviors and competencies that are expected for this role.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines that connect product, operations, and third-party data sources into Snowflake
- Managing and evolving Tilt’s data infrastructure stack, including Snowflake, AWS DBs, dbt, Airflow (or equivalent orchestrator), and Python-based transformation frameworks
- Developing clean, well-modeled data layers to power self-service analytics, dashboards, APIs, and internal tools
- Partnering with Product, RevOps, and CS to deliver reliable datasets for experimentation, reporting, forecasting, and decision-making
- Collaborating with software engineers to identify and resolve data-related performance bottlenecks in applications.
- Implementing data quality monitoring, observability, and documentation standards to ensure accuracy and trust across stakeholders
- Laying the foundation for ML- and AI-assisted workflows, including dataset preparation for feature engineering, automation pipelines, and prompt-based inference
- Bringing a product mindset to internal data systems, optimizing for usability, performance, and adoption
You’re a great fit if
- You have experience and a proven track record of designing, scaling, and owning production-grade data pipelines and Snowflake data models
- You have experience operating across both analytics and platform-level data engineering, collaborating with stakeholders while maintaining high technical standards
- You’ve built or supported AI/ML or automation workflows, even if early-stage or experimental
- You’re opinionated about data modeling and orchestration best practices (dbt, Airflow, modular ELT patterns, etc.), but pragmatic enough to move quickly when needed
- You have high levels of empathy and can connect deeply with Tilt’s mission
- You are comfortable working in ambiguous environments and know that we need your help to figure things out
- You are a comfortable using a lot of systems at once, and have the ability to learn software quickly
- You are fearlessly flexible and curious; aka you thrive in an environment where we don't have all the answers but are willing to help us figure them out
- You have experience working with a startup and/or with a B2B SaaS business

Total Compensation
The projected annual salary range is $140,000-$160,000 USD plus stock options (ISOs), because we believe everyone should have some stake in our business.
