About the Team:
The Data Delivery and Operations division is a strategic, client-focused team enabling data-driven investment decisions across SWIB. We partner with Investment Management, Operations, and Technology to deliver trusted, timely, and high-quality data that powers SWIB’s investment strategies. Together with Technology, we are advancing SWIB’s transformation into a premier data-driven investment organization through modernization, automation, and data governance excellence.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Data Analytics Engineering Manager, the Data Analytics Engineering Analyst serves as SWIB’s subject matter expert and technical lead for Security Master Data. This role is accountable for advancing the firm’s investment data ecosystem with a specialization in Bloomberg data, SimCorp GAIN, and Markit EDM integration.
The Data Engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy, leading the strategy, implementation, and oversight of master data processes that ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability across SWIB’s front-to-back investment systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Bloomberg Back Office, Bloomberg Per Security, and GAIN’s security master service, as well as hands-on experience aligning multiple master data sources into an enterprise-wide “single source of truth.”
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Security Master Data Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SWIB, with deep understanding of Bloomberg data structures, GAIN’s security master, and Markit EDM.
- Own and manage the relationship with SimCorp GAIN, acting as SWIB’s primary liaison for data quality, issue resolution, and product enhancements related to investment reference data.
- Lead initiatives to align and synchronize data between GAIN and Markit EDM, ensuring a unified and accurate security master across the enterprise.
- Partner with internal teams and vendors to design, implement, and optimize workflows that maintain data integrity across systems including FactSet, MSCI, Aladdin, Bloomberg PORT, and Charles River (CRD).
- Design and enforce data governance and quality controls, including exception management, reconciliation frameworks, and lineage tracking for security master and market data.
- Analyze complex data issues and drive sustainable remediation by collaborating across Operations, Technology, and vendor partners.
- Serve as a technical and business bridge to ensure security reference data supports investment decision-making, risk reporting, compliance, and performance measurement.
- Collaborate with the Technology and Data Engineering teams to implement scalable data pipelines and integrations using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, and other modern tools.
- Mentor analysts in data mastering practices, process automation, and security data governance.
- Present findings, recommendations, and metrics to senior leadership, influencing data strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Data Analytics, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
- 4–10+ years of experience in data management, data engineering, or investment data operations within financial services or asset management.
- Deep technical expertise with Security Master Data, including Bloomberg data sets (Back Office, Per Security, Corporate Actions, Pricing, Reference Data).
- Proven experience managing SimCorp GAIN’s security master service, including vendor coordination, data feed optimization, and issue resolution.
- Strong working knowledge of Markit EDM and the ability to align multi-system master data structures.
- Experience with data governance frameworks, data modeling, and enterprise data management best practices.
- Familiarity with FactSet, MSCI, Aladdin, and Charles River (CRD) integrations.
- Proficiency in SQL and cloud data environments (Snowflake, Azure) and comfort with modern data orchestration and ETL tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects independently, dealing effectively with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across multiple levels of the organization.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in investment data management.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience designing or enhancing enterprise security master models that harmonize multiple data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, GAIN, Markit EDM).
- Understanding of financial instruments, reference data structures, and market data workflows.
- Progress toward professional certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP, CFA, PMP, Azure, or Snowflake).
- Proven ability to collaborate across Operations, Technology, and Investment teams to deliver sustainable data solutions.

The position requires U.S. work authorization.
Pursuant to our Hybrid Remote Work Policy, all staff have the flexibility to work remotely, but are required to have a weekly presence in our offices, the frequency of which is dependent on their distance from office. Staff are not required to reside locally; however, we offer relocation reimbursement to the Dane County area per our policy.
