The Data & Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for shaping True Homes’ enterprise data strategy and architecture while also contributing hands-on expertise in building and maintaining modern data solutions (pipelines, databases, warehouses, lake-houses, etc) . This role blends strategic oversight with technical delivery, ensuring that data systems are scalable, reliable , efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. The associate will leverage advanced knowledge of T-SQL, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and ETL/ELT best practices to design robust solutions, guide modernization efforts, and support data-driven decision-making across the business in a fast-paced environment with lots of autonomy.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
- Write, optimize, and support complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views, including performance tuning and advanced query optimization.
- Design and implement efficient, scalable, and secure database schemas to support modernization initiatives.
- Build and manage Azure SQL and related cloud-based data services.
- Monitor and improve data pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, discipline and job function leaders, software engineers, business analysts, and data scientists to meet data requirements.
- Implement data governance and best practices for data quality, consistency, and security.
- Support data integration from external providers and internal applications.
- Document data flows, schemas, and processes in a professional and timely manner.
- Design and optimize data models, schemas, and integration patterns across multiple platforms.
- Partner with leadership to align data architecture initiatives with business objectives and future growth.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and platforms for data integration, storage, and analytics.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data governance, quality, security, and compliance.
- Establish medallion architecture in Fabric to ensure consistent report ready data.
- Establish logic and governance patterns for business data calculations (schedule gates, architectural and job cost calculations, etc).
- Collaborate with business units, analysts, and data scientists to ensure architecture supports analytics and reporting needs.
- Support and mentor team members in data engineering and architecture practices.
- Develop documentation for data flows, pipelines, and architectural decisions.
- Support Power BI users and leads visualization best practice discussions
- Lead efforts to migrate on-premise data infrastructure to cloud.
- Perform other duties as needed or required

- Manages deployment of business intelligence solutions to ensure the application of best practices and data integrity
- Analyzes data environments and vision for long term data delivery performance proactively
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Arts in Information Systems, or relevant work experience required
- Seven or more years of experience in data architecture and engineering roles.
- Advanced proficiency in T-SQL.
- Effective at Azure SQL database design and optimization .
- Proven experience developing and maintaining pipelines with Azure Data Factory.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric for advanced data integration and analytics.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and warehousing techniques.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar BI tools preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to set and enforce data governance and architecture standards.
- Microsoft certification in data architecture or Azure technologies preferred.
