As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing new products and sustaining existing production contracts. This challenging position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience in developing and sustaining products. You will be responsible for ensuring our software and electronics products deliver cutting edge performance, evaluating make-vs-buy decisions, and continuously improving our design, analysis and project planning processes. Specific Job Duties shall include but not be limited to:
- Software Engineering

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers, including guiding, reviewing and approving their design work.
- Establish technical objectives, milestones, project timelines and budgets
- Building and sustaining a CMMI® capability level 3 (or equivalent) software development organization
- Develop embedded software for sensor processing, system state estimation and robotic navigation
- C++ or Rust or C programming
- LINUX OS development
- Developing software for RTOS
- Guiding the team in state of the art utilization of version control tools (e.g. Github, JIRA)
- Working with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
- Developing kernel, device drivers, system calls
- Developing for secure hardware, such as TPM or TEE
- Implementing computer vision and AI algorithms
- Implementing control systems
- Ensuring operating system security and threat modelling and Design of secure SW Systems
- Support make vs buy decisions
- Work with contract manufacturers to develop and execute development as well as production and testing.

Working across engineering departments to deliver on project goals
- Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Risk management, Change Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- Work with the quality team to implement and oversee software and electronics related testing for product quality control
- Work with senior management to develop technology road maps, project plans and strategies
Requirements and Education:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of experience with excellent working knowledge of software design and implementation for sensor, electromechanical or robotic systems
- 4+ years experience in engineering, within the aerospace/defense, automotive, or medical device fields
- 2+ years of relevant experience developing UI’s and secure cloud resources
- Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Risk management, Change Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- Proficient with Microsoft suite
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to ISO 9001/AS 9100 quality systems.
- Experience with high mix low volume manufacturing and suppliers
- Experience with electromechanical hardware
- Experience with Python / Matlab and experimental data collection
