Overview
Transform data into action! Salem State University seeks a Analytics and Data Analyst to advance our internal reporting, dashboards, and visualizations, directly supporting student success and strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, you will be key in transforming complex data into actionable insights for the entire university. This role requires an expert balance of data extraction (using SQL and PeopleSoft Query) and compelling visualization in business intelligence platforms.
You will streamline and automate reporting processes, develop and maintain self-service tools like the university factbook, and ensure data consistency and accuracy for both internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, social science, or related field.

Proven experience managing and using relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PeopleSoft Query, etc.

Expertise in R, Python, SPSS or similar.

Expertise data visualization such as Power BI or Tableau.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Masters preferred in analytics, statistics, social science, or a related field.

Minimum of five years of experience; three to five years in institutional research reporting and data analysis.

Superior analytical, research, and oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex data and analytics to varied audiences including senior leadership, faculty, internal and external stakeholders.

Experience with data governance strongly preferred.

Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Thorough knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements and compliance obligations in higher education.

Ability to effectively manage complex projects and deadlines independently.
Working Location
This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
