What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a motivated and driven Material Flow Engineer who will support material flow data management and completeness for the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) for pre-production programs. This data directly drives critical Factory Design analyses and decisions. This role is based in Austin, TX.
The team is responsible for developing a factory design which supports seamless integration between production, material flow, logistics, supply chain and facilities teams. Innovation is expected. Through a detailed understanding of the high-level factory objectives and extensive collaboration with the internal and external teams designing individual factory components, this team ensures that the factory design as whole achieves all of Tesla’s objectives.
The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile, and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today. A successful applicant will take pride in their thoroughness, analytical ability, organizational skills, and team mentality. The candidate will be able to think at a systems level about ambiguous problems and use strong logic to develop models that drive optimal factory design decisions.
What You'll Do-
Build relationships with upstream design engineering teams and champion data management strategies to align our team with the latest design directions

Own data completeness for Plan for Every Part (PFEP) for pre-production factory design activities

Develop Power BI or Excel reports to cleanly summarize factory objectives and manage constant change

Work with Factory Design peers to understand internal team data needs for various factory design studies and models

Drive data-driven communication across teams such as Material Planning, Logistics, Packaging, manufacturing and Sourcing to develop the PFEP

Ability to flex into supply chain design activities such as logistics optimization and warehouse design

Monitor the frequent changes in BOM and ensure Dataset aligns with latest product & manufacturing definition
What You'll Bring-
2+ years data engineering experience (manufacturing focus preferred), internship experience may be considered

Degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience

Experience collecting and managing data with cross-functional teams

Proficiency with Excel, VBA, Power BI, SQL

Experience leading innovative, thoughtful solutions to systems-level problems

Comfortable navigating ambiguous problems

Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

Ability to interpret engineering and manufacturing BOMs

Solid understanding of logistics and warehousing design concepts

Experience with PFEP (plan for every part) database creation or management or analyzing/optimizing factory and production line designs
