Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, on-site Web Analytics Engineer with deep expertise in the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and maintenance of our web analytics solutions. You will serve as the technical owner of Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, working closely with developers, product managers, and marketing teams to ensure data accuracy, create robust reporting, and uncover insights that drive conversion optimization and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design & Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain scalable Google Analytics 4 solutions using Google Tag Manager (GTM) across our web and mobile platforms.
- Tag Management: Manage the complete tag lifecycle within Google Tag Manager (GTM), including creating and managing tags, triggers, and variables, while ensuring efficient deployment.
- Data Layer Management: Develop, maintain, and advocate for a robust data layer (especially for e-commerce) to support consistent and reliable data capture across all digital properties.
- Technical Configuration: Configure all necessary Google Analytics 4 data streams, custom dimensions, metrics, audiences, and event parameters based on business KPIs.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including Analytics Implementation Guides and technical specifications.
- Validation & QA: Perform rigorous validation and QA of all analytics implementations using tools like the GA DebugView, Google Tag Assistant, Charles Proxy, and browser developer tools to ensure data accuracy.
- Collaboration & Strategy:
- Collaborate with product managers and developers in an Agile/Scrum environment to translate business requirements into technical analytics specifications.
- Provide site analytics (funnel analysis, A/B testing, website traffic patterns) to help optimize website design and user experience.
- Leverage the Google Marketing Platform (including GA4, Google Ads, and Google Optimize) to analyze the ROI of different campaigns, paid channels, and marketing initiatives, with a focus on e-commerce funnels and retail performance.
- Reporting & Dashboards:
- Build, automate, and maintain executive-level dashboards and reports in GA4 Explore (Explorations) and Looker Studio.
- Support API integrations with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI for broader data dissemination.
- Integration & Compliance:
- Lead the integration of Google Marketing Platform products, including Google Optimize, Google Ads, and BigQuery.
- Implement and manage cross-domain/cross-device tracking using Google signals and User-ID features.
- Partner with privacy and legal teams to ensure all analytics practices align with GDPR, CCPA, and other compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Core Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in web analytics with expert-level proficiency in Google Analytics 4 and the Google Marketing Platform.
- Technical Skills:
- Google Suite: Deep, practical experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager (GTM), Looker Studio, and BigQuery. Familiarity with the broader Google Marketing Platform (Google Ads, Google Optimize).
- Web Technologies: Strong understanding of JavaScript, JSON, HTML, and CSS as they relate to tag management and data layer implementation.
- Databases & BI: Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with BI/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Debugging: Expertise with analytics debugging tools (e.g., GA DebugView, Tag Assistant, Charles Proxy, browser dev tools).
- Functional Skills:
- Proven experience designing and documenting analytics implementation guides.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts (Star/Snowflake schemas), especially in a retail/e-commerce context.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum environment.
- A self-motivated, fast learner capable of managing multiple priorities.
