A well-funded AI startup (Series A, backed by top-tier investors and led by ex-DeepMind / Anthropic / OpenAI engineers) is building next-generation agentic systems — intelligent, autonomous software agents that can reason, plan, and act across browsers, operating systems, and enterprise environments.
They’re hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to help shape and scale this frontier technology, blending LLMs, multimodal models, and secure runtime environments into real, production-grade systems.
The Role
You’ll be a core contributor, designing and implementing the foundation for a next-generation desktop and browser-based agent capable of:
- Autonomously navigating web environments, local filesystems, and complex user workflows
- Integrating vision and language models for multimodal reasoning
- Operating safely within secure, virtualized runtimes
You’ll work across:
- Agentic architecture: systems that interact with browsers, OS APIs, and enterprise data
- Search and retrieval: pipelines spanning large-scale structured & unstructured data
- Model integration: combining LLMs, vision models, and reinforcement learning for multi-step reasoning
- Backend infrastructure: secure containerized execution and scalable serving frameworks
What They’re Looking For
- Strong Python skills and comfort building/debugging complex ML applications
- Experience with desktop OS APIs (Windows/macOS) for screen reading, file access, and accessibility frameworks
- Background in browser automation or extensions (Playwright, Puppeteer, DOM manipulation)
- Understanding of LLM prompting, orchestration, and reasoning frameworks
- Experience building secure, sandboxed, or containerized runtimes
- Ability to work across research and production teams in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
Bonus Points For
- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems
- Vector databases and large-scale indexing
- Enterprise security/compliance familiarity (SOC 2, etc.)
- OCR, UI understanding, or screen-reading models
- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or agentic workflow design
Total comp: 500,000-1,000,000 (200-300k base + equity)
Why It’s Exciting
This is an opportunity to help define the next era of intelligent software — where agents reason, learn, and execute complex goals autonomously. You’ll join a small, elite team operating at the intersection of ML research, systems engineering, and human-AI collaboration, with meaningful ownership and rapid iteration.
