We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and highly motivated individual to join OXcan’s Research and Development team as a Data Scientist.
Reporting to the Director of Analysis and Data Analytics, the ideal candidate will contribute to the development of OXcan’s research initiatives by applying advanced mathematical, statistical, and computational approaches to analyze complex proteomic and clinical datasets. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to design robust analytical plans, execute statistical methodologies, and clearly communicate insights that guide scientific and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing all statistical tasks, including statistical analysis and reporting.
- Design and draft statistical analysis plans.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of modern statistical methodologies and guidelines, and recommending suitable approaches as needed.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including biologists and regulatory clinicians and consultants, to align on research goals and deliverables.
- Effectively communicate findings and insights through clear presentations, detailed reports, and interactive discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
- A post-graduate degree (Master's/PhD) in a subject area with high mathematical content, with two years of working experience, preferably in the biomedical area.
- Strong skills in R programming for statistics, data analysis and visualization.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods applied to biological data analysis.
- Preparation and execution of statistical analysis plans and protocols.
- Performing quality assessments and monitoring of data.
- Familiarity with documenting workflows, maintaining reproducible codebases, and version control.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
Desired Experience
- Background in signal processing, probabilistic modelling and statistical inference.
- Experience handling and analyzing imbalanced datasets.
- Experience working within regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, curious mindset toward scientific challenges.
