Position Summary

The Data Analyst is a foundational, entry-level role within the Business Intelligence Department that supports both data integration and data visualization functions. This position supports data integration, reporting, and dashboard development, with a strong emphasis on creating intuitive and impactful visualizations that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about turning data into stories that inform and inspire.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with extracting, cleaning, and preparing data from multiple systems for reporting and analysis.
Build and maintain basic dashboards, reports, and visualizations that are user-friendly and accurate using tools like Power BI, Domo, or similar platforms.
Apply data visualization best practices to ensure clarity, usability, and accessibility for diverse audiences.
Support validation of transformed data against source systems to ensure data integrity.
Document processes, data definitions, and reporting standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requests and provide accurate reporting solutions.
Document data definitions, visualization standards, and reporting processes to support consistency and scalability.
Monitor and optimize performance of dashboards and reports for responsiveness and efficiency.
Assist in identifying data quality issues and support cleansing and governance initiatives.
Gain familiarity with ETL workflows, integration concepts, and cloud-based data platforms.
Participate in ongoing training and mentorship to develop advanced BI and visualization skills.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business, Finance or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
Foundational understanding of SQL and relational databases.
Experience or strong interest in data visualization tools (Power BI, Domo, Qlik, or similar).
Understanding of visualization principles such as char selection, color theory, and layout design.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to communicate complex data findings in a clear and engaging manner.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative, data-driven environment. Interest in developing technical expertise in data integration, ETL, and data governance.
