ChildMetrix partners with child welfare agencies nationwide to strengthen outcomes for children and families. We’re hiring a part-time Data Analyst to help wrangle messy administrative datasets in R and turn them into reproducible, client-ready R Markdown/Quarto reports.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role (10 – 20 hrs / week) with an initial 12-month term and the potential to renew or grow into full-time. Pay range is $65–$85 / hour, depending on experience.

What you’ll do

Clean, join, and validate large, complex CSV / Excel data in R
Identify, fix, and document data quality issues
Calculate performance metrics for child welfare agencies
Produce polished, reproducible R Markdown/Quarto reports and supporting data files
Work with a small team to build and maintain repeatable workflows and data pipelines

What we’re looking for

Strong R skills and hands-on experience with R Markdown/Quarto
Comfort with joins, reshaping, functions, and messy datasets
Git/GitHub fluency and attention to detail
Experience handling confidential data securely (HIPAA/FERPA)

Nice to have

Shiny + Plotly, data visualization skills
Knowledge of child welfare data, systems, and programs (e.g., CCWIS, SACWIS, NCANDS, AFCARS, and CFSR) – or a clear eagerness to learn
