My client is a growing investment fund located in Miami that actively invests in public equities and leverages a diverse suite of alternative data sources to inform and track investments. These include credit card panels, web traffic, app usage, hospital procurement, pharmacy prescription, and retail sell-through data, among others.

This is an opportunity to own the data engineering function and play a key role in shaping the firm’s research infrastructure. The Lead Data Engineer will build and maintain systems that consolidate and organize large, complex datasets helping analysts uncover insights and improve investment decision-making.

Responsibilities

Partner with fundamental analysts to design, build, and maintain a data platform (pipelines, repositories, data warehouse, and APIs)
Automate and optimize ETL processes from various third-party and internal data sources
Develop data ingestion and processing pipelines using modern cloud-based tools (e.g., AWS S3, Snowflake)
Create a centralized portal/interface for streamlined data access and visualization
Support ad-hoc data investigations and deep dives into specific companies or sectors

Experience

5+ years of data engineering experience, ideally within investment management, fintech, or data analytics environments
Strong background in Python and data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy)
Hands-on experience building ETL processes that integrate multiple data sources
Proficiency in SQL and relational database development
