Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineer. This position will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing robust, scalable data pipelines that enable seamless data flow across key educational and administrative systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud-based data architecture (preferably Azure), ETL/ELT processes, and secure, real-time data integrations.The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining real-time and bi-directional data synchronization pipelines between various systems, including:

AMS (Academic Management System)
Azimuth Dataverse
Canvas LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability)
Slate Admissions Platform

The consultant will also be instrumental in consolidating these data sources into a centralized, modern platform to support analytics, compliance, and operational reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build scalable, resilient data pipelines and integration workflows for real-time and batch processing.
Develop bi-directional sync mechanisms between AMS, Azimuth Dataverse, Canvas LTI, and Slate Admissions.
Build connectors and APIs where needed to enable seamless interoperability across platforms.
Perform data mapping, cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure data integrity across systems.
Implement data governance, lineage tracking, and metadata management in alignment with organizational standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, data analysts, system administrators, and stakeholders to meet integration goals.
Develop automated monitoring and alerting solutions to track data flows, detect anomalies, and ensure system health.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including pipeline designs, system architecture diagrams, and ETL processes.
Support security, compliance, and policy requirements including DoD 8140 standards.

Required Certifications

Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
DoD 8140 Compliant: IAT Level II Certification, such as:
CompTIA Security+
CCNA Security
CySA+
GSEC, or equivalent

Preferred Skills and Experience

5+ years of experience in data engineering, with emphasis on cloud data platforms (Azure preferred).
Deep understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or similar.
Experience with API integration, webhooks, and middleware for real-time data sync.
Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and working with relational and non-relational databases.
Knowledge of educational technology platforms such as Canvas, Slate, and Dataverse.
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD for data pipelines.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
