Summary:

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and architecture using Microsoft Fabric. The role will be responsible for working with various data sources and technologies to ensure seamless data integration and empower robust analytics and reporting throughout the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Pipelines

Create scalable and efficient data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric.
Continuously monitor and optimize data flows to enhance performance.
Implement mechanisms to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency throughout the pipeline.

Data Integration

Connect and integrate data from various source systems, including leveraging APIs, SFTPs, and servers to ensure seamless data transfer.
Develop and maintain processes to transform raw data into usable formats.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure source system data changes are reflected accurately.

Database Management

Manage and maintain databases, including Fabric lakehouses and warehouses to ensure reliable data storage and retrieval.
Design and implement data models and schemas that support efficient data access and analysis.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collaborate with other members of the Data Strategy & Insights team to design data architectures and tools to enable Power BI reporting and advanced analytics.
Provide accurate and timely data reporting to support business intelligence initiatives and decision-making processes.
Implement analytical frameworks to continuously monitor the quality and integrity of data.

Data Governance

Develop systems to track and analyze metadata, ensuring comprehensive data documentation.
Help ensure data handling practices comply with industry standards and regulations.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
At least one relevant certifications
