Junior Software Engineer (Remote with Occasional Travel)

This is a full-time, primarily remote role, with occasional travel (typically 0–2 times per week) to client sites in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. You’ll contribute directly to real-world projects, developing backend services, building internal software tools, and integrating AI models into practical workflows for SMBs and industrial clients. Most projects involve prototyping, automation of routine tasks, and creating intuitive interfaces or embedded solutions.

Our small, hands-on team values collaboration, quick learning, and solving realistic problems. You must live in the greater Chicago area and have reliable transportation.

What You’ll Do

Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and automation workflows
Prototype internal tools and embedded device solutions
Integrate AI models (like large language models) into business and non-critical industrial applications
Work closely with senior engineers and client teams
Learn new technologies and adapt quickly to changing requirements

What We're Looking For

Comfortable writing code in C++, Python, or Go
Familiarity with SQL databases and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Basic experience with Git and common software development lifecycle practices
Genuine interest in IoT, embedded hardware, automation, and practical applications of AI
Strong problem-solving skills and desire to learn quickly
Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT, CIS, EE or a related field or equivalent practical experience
