What is ISSA looking for?
ISSA is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure. This role is pivotal in supporting both our production systems and our modern BI stack. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a strong business mindset to ensure data reliability, scalability, and accessibility across the organization.
So What's the Job?
Production Systems:

Oversee the data integration and synchronization between HubSpot, Shopify, and RingCentral.

Ensure the health, performance, and reliability of our production database.

Partner with cross-functional teams to support transactional workflows and real-time data availability.
Data Platform & BI Stack:

Own the end-to-end data pipeline, from ingestion with Fivetran through warehousing in Snowflake, modeling with dbt, and delivery to Tableau.

Design and optimize scalable data architectures for both operational and analytical use cases.

Lead the development and maintenance of curated datasets and reporting tables used in Tableau dashboards.
Leadership & Strategy:

Define and enforce data engineering best practices, coding standards, and documentation.

Collaborate with the CDO and business stakeholders to align data initiatives with strategic goals.

Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reliability, and governance.
Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in data engineering, including team leadership roles.

Proven expertise with Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, and Tableau.

Strong SQL skills and experience with modern ELT workflows.

Familiarity with CRM, e-commerce, and communication platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Shopify, RingCentral).

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the online education or certification space.

Background in software engineering or DevOps practices.

Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
