This foundational backend role shapes the systems and architecture that make complex networking feel simple, scalable, and secure. You will design our backend as a central hub for our fleet that brings devices online automatically, collects telemetry data that empowers companies to diagnose problems in real time, and builds APIs that support rich integrations.
Your work, whether building observability tools, auth middleware, RBAC, or customer-facing APIs, will be crucial in establishing core networking principles and accelerating the evolution of connectivity as a utility. We build in Go, using Postgres for configuration and Kafka and ClickHouse to ingest and warehouse real-time telemetry data. Our GraphQL-powered API supports rich integrations, and we deploy across both AWS and Azure.
You’ll collaborate closely with our frontend, firmware, and internal operations teammates to ship full-featured, production-grade systems that directly impact how businesses connect to the world.
We’re building a company of exceptional people, and we’re looking for engineers who raise the bar. That is, those who bring both deep technical craft and high standards to everything they do. You’ll thrive at Meter if you operate with autonomy, communicate with clarity, and find energy in helping others move faster. If you’re motivated by the opportunity to build elegant, high-leverage backend systems that touch real infrastructure and customers, this is a rare opportunity to help accelerate the evolution of connectivity as a utility.
Meter is solving a massive, under-innovated problem in a legacy industry dominated by hardware incumbents with a stack that is fragmented and brittle. We take a vertically integrated approach in designing and operating our own hardware, software, and deployment infrastructure, which allows us to bring clarity, reliability, and automation to offices, warehouses, schools, and health clinics.
If this sounds like the kind of challenge you’re excited to take on, please apply!
