We are looking for a Software Engineer (Mobile/Full-Stack) to join Covet Health. Our team is dedicated to building healthcare solutions that envision a more accessible and affordable healthcare system. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who can handle multiple tasks effectively and collaborate well with a team. This individual will get to play a critical role in the product vision and strategy of the company.
You will be a lead developer and manager responsible for the development of new software products and working with existing engineers to deploy enhancements to existing products. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and frameworks, have outstanding communication and leadership skills, and enjoy learning new technologies/methods.
Role and Responsibilities
- Key Role: As one of the first engineers, you will contribute significantly to setting the technological direction and building the foundation.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the CTO and other founders to develop both customer-facing products and the company's internal infrastructure, applications, and models.
- Innovation in Healthcare: Leverage your expertise to address major challenges in the healthcare industry, supporting the entire development lifecycle from ideation to production.
- Mobile App Development: A primary responsibility will include the development and maintenance of our member-facing mobile app.
- Code Quality: Write clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code, adhering to best practices.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with various teams to ensure projects align with business objectives and compliance standards.
- Product Support: Assist in the testing and deployment of new products and features, with an ongoing commitment to quality and user experience.
- Peer Review: Actively engage in code reviews, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Security Mindset: You are careful with data and understand or are willing to learn HIPAA constraints. You prioritize building systems and applications with modern, advanced security to ensure the continuous protection of PHI and other sensitive data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of full-time software development experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to take on complex projects.
- Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science or related discipline (e.g. engineering, physics, data science) or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Adaptability: Willingness and ability to learn new skills and techniques. We value diverse experiences and curiosity.
- Mobile Development: Experience with Mobile app development (Flutter preferred; iOS and Android experience relevant).
- Backend Services: Experience in building backend services and APIs (e.g., Springboot, flask/fastAPI, REST, GraphQL)
- Web Development: Familiarity with modern web application development. Experience with JS web frameworks (e.g., VueJS/React/NodeJS/Express) is a plus but not required. As well as Experience with Flutter Web.
- Databases: Familiarity with different database types: SQL, noSQL, graph, in-memory stores (e.g., Postgres, ArangoDB, Neptune, Redis) is beneficial, but experience with each type is not essential.
- Architecture Understanding: Knowledge of different application architectures (Monolith vs. microservice) and the tools that support them (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage
- Cyber Security: Understanding of or willingness to learn cyber security best practices during and after development.
- Codebase Management: Experience with large, complex codebases, and understanding how to maintain them, or a desire to learn. Building and using CI/CD pipelines
