Position Summary
OmniSync is a venture and government backed dual use SaaS company transforming the way public and private sectors innovate. We were founded in 2019, we are a proud San Diego-based company driven by PhD-trained, serial entrepreneur founders, with several successfully commercialized products in public and private markets. OmniSync’s, TurboInnovate is an advanced market intelligence platform used to conduct rapid project-specific market research, generate novel technical insights, and competition landscape mapping; and now includes TurboSBIR’s ability to streamline startups’ access to $4B in Federal innovation funds. OmniSync is a recipient of eight federal innovation contracts, including SBIR Phase III commercialization contracts, and two subcontracts to prime contractors. Customers include the DoD, Fortune 100/500 companies, VCs, tech-transfer offices, and innovation seeking organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires access to information and technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Due to our work with the U.S. Federal Government all candidates must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
This is highly challenging work that will engage your deep understanding of data engineering to deliver on confidential projects. You should have a keen interest in staying up to date with the latest technologies and understanding the implications for our industry. You should also be a great collaborator who enjoys working with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and business partners.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of sources. You will work closely with data scientists and software engineers to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for use in analytics and machine learning models.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using ETL processes to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Contribute significantly to automating data preprocessing, cleaning, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality datasets that fuel the success of our models and applications.
- Implement data models and database designs that ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Document experiments findings and results with supporting summary statistics for peer discussion and review.
- Write production and deployment code, iterate deployed models for optimal performance and inference speed.
- Real-time data processing and exposure to containerization and orchestration tools
- Create RESTful APIs to facilitate data access for applications and services.
- Understanding of linked data concepts and analytics methodologies.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems effectively.
- Experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data warehousing is a plus
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Performs other duties, research and special projects, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computational Linguistics.
- Demonstrable proficiency in Python, PostgreSQL, Pandas, and Numpy
- Knowledge in Database Modeling, Normalization, Indexing and Query Optimization
- Knowledge in data processing (batch, stream), ETL/ELT pipelines and CI/CD practices for data engineering
- English fluency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $31.00 - $44.00 USD per hour; Depending on Experience
Hybrid: Must be able and willing to be in our office in San Diego, 92123 at least twice a week with additional days as needed for innovative collaboration.
Python: 3 years (Required)
Pandas and Numpy: 2 year (Required)
