What You Will Be Doing:
Under general supervision, the BI Data Analyst, Intermediate is responsible for supporting HPSJ’s data-driven decision-making by analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing data from various business domains. This role contributes to the development and enhancement of HPSJ’s data warehouse and business intelligence capabilities, including data modeling, dashboard development, ad hoc reporting, and data validation. The analyst collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, create insights, and ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

Essential Functions:

Partner with business teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional data solutions and BI reports.

Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.

Perform data profiling, validation, and QA to ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting.

Develop and maintain data models and views to support business reporting and analytics.

Assist in enhancing and maintaining HPSJ’s enterprise data warehouse and data marts.

Support data migration and transformation projects as part of the data lifecycle process.

Document data definitions, transformation logic, and metadata for transparency and governance.

Provide support and training to end-users on BI tools, dashboards, and data interpretation.

Adhere to HIPAA and other privacy and security guidelines in handling PHI and sensitive data.

What You Have:
Education and Experience
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.

3 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or data warehousing.

Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing query performance.

Hands-on experience with BI tools, especially Power BI and SSRS.

Familiarity with dimensional data modeling and ETL processes.

Understanding data governance, data quality, and mastering management concepts.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively across teams.
Preferred
-
Experience working in the healthcare industry or with health plan data (e.g., claims, authorizations, membership, providers).

Knowledge of regulatory and compliance reporting such as HEDIS, DSNP, or CMS submissions.

Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure).

Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices.
