The Mechanical Automation Engineer will assist the Automation Division with mechanical design, integration, and delivery of advanced industrial automation and robotics systems.
Education and Experience:
Required: BSME/BSMET degree

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design complex machinery with pneumatic and electromechanical components in SolidWorks.
- Design and integrate robots, end-of-arm tooling, feeding devices, and material handling cells.
- Lead internal and customer design reviews.
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for custom automation and robotic systems.
- Produce high-level designs and detail/assembly drawings for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with controls, electrical, and software engineers to integrate robotics into automated production lines.
- Work with the sales teams to visit customer plants and review SOW/RFQ specifications.
- Recommend optimal products or systems to meet technical and budgetary needs.
- Assist the sales team in generating accurate cost estimates, quotes, and proposals.
- Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions, ensuring compatibility with product offerings.
- Source and qualify components, manage supplier relationships, and oversee outsourced fabrication/assembly.
- Oversee the building process of equipment supporting machinists and assemblers.
- Support test and debug efforts to identify and resolve issues during the build phase, adjusting the mechanical systems as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining current technical, interpersonal, and communication skills through continuous development. Progressive development of skills should be cultivated through further education, seminars, company training, and other external resources such as reading material.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- 6+ years in Mechanical design and supporting roles within the industrial automation sector, with at least 3 years at a Robotic Systems Integrator designing custom machinery.
- SolidWorks 3D CAD design
- Experience sizing actuators, servos, sensors, and pneumatics
- Knowledge and experience with machining and other fabrication processes
- Experience and skill in prototyping, 3D printing, testing, and debugging
- Robotic automation cell design skills (cycle analysis, safety, risk assessment)
- Experience designing common robotic applications. Assembly, material handling, palletizing, and inspection.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- General office environment with occasional exposure to industrial shop environments.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
